Molly Austen
Book appointment
Molly is an Occupational Therapist with experience across a range of NHS services, including physical acute care, neurological rehabilitation, community and inpatient mental health, and prison mental health. This breadth of experience informs her holistic approach, considering how physical health, mental health, and neurodevelopmental differences can interact to influence a person’s ability to engage in the activities that are important to them.
Molly is experienced in working with those who are neurodivergent and has a clinical interest in women’s health, neurodivergence, and mental health. Her Occupational Therapy practice is grounded in the understanding that being unable to participate in the activities you want or need to do has an impact on health, wellbeing, identity, and quality of life. Molly recognises that difficulties with everyday activities are rarely the result of one factor alone. Instead, sensory needs, attention, executive functioning, physical and mental health, life experiences, and the demands placed upon a person by the environment can all interact. Molly works collaboratively with individuals to understand these different factors and find practical, meaningful ways to make everyday life feel more manageable, sustainable, and fulfilling. Molly’s practice is holistic and aims to be validating, neuro-affirming, and empowering, working alongside patients, with a particular focus on environmental changes.
Molly also has a clinical interest in sensory processing and integration, and how sensory differences can influence regulation, emotional wellbeing, and participation in daily life. She is a qualified Sensory Integration Practitioner and can offer Ayres Sensory Integration® (ASI) therapy where this is clinically indicated and aligned with an individual’s goals.
Alongside her occupational therapy practice, Molly is a qualified Yoga Teacher and is passionate about thoughtfully integrating principles of yoga into therapeutic work. She is particularly interested in how yoga can support self-regulation, body awareness and interoception, sensory processing, and overall wellbeing. Her additional trainings in Trauma Sensitive Yoga and Adaptive Yoga inform an approach that prioritises choice, accessibility, and individual needs.
Molly holds a BSc in Psychology from Royal Holloway, University of London and an MSc in Occupational Therapy with Distinction from London South Bank University. She has subsequently completed a PGCert in Sensory Integration through Sensory Integration Education and Sheffield Hallam University, and her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training with YogaHaven.
